Arch Reactor is a inclusive hackerspace that was a little effort you can learn how to take apart or build anything you want. There are people there who can help you learn how to do just about anything.
This is an excellent example of a co-working space or hackerspace. Membership is open to nearly anyone. The leased space is on the first floor and encompasses over 5,000 square feet of total space that is split into specific work areas. Nearly half of the space is made up of a large workshop with tools for wood and metal. The rest is made up of member storage, a social area & kitchenette, a tech & electronic space that doubles as a meeting area, and a classroom. Membership dues are quite low and most meetings are open to the public. However, you must be a paying member in order to utilize the tools and space. The members are very friendly and will give a tour to anyone who asks. If you have a project to make and do not have to space or tools to make it with, this organization is an excellent choice.
Enormous facility, good equipment, wonderful members.
Imagine if you had a group of people who liked to work on the same types of projects, but maybe not all of them had all of the tools or the space at home to work on those projects - so they decided to start a club and rent some warehouse space where they could work on their projects.
That's what a hackerspace/makerspace is. Meetings are on Tuesday nights, and are open to the public. This is the first club of its kind that I have ever had contact with - and I have to say it's pretty cool.
